Course Overview

In recent years, EMS personnel have been under extreme stress due to the worsening homelessness crisis. In certain systems, emergency medical services (EMS) serve as the primary healthcare providers for people in this circumstance, frequently at the expense of the physical and emotional well-being of EMS personnel. An overwhelmingly large number of 911 calls are for homeless individuals. EMS are also at risk of abuse, coming into contact with dangerous materials like needles and fires, and entering environments that are often cut off from society.

This unique perspective exposes the challenges that EMS personnel grapple with when responding to such calls, unveiling both the raw struggles and the triumphs. Navigate through the intricacies of effective response, safeguarding not only the lives of those in need but also the well-being of the dedicated individuals at the forefront of emergency services. This is not just an education; it's an immersion into the intense, authentic world of emergency response. In a world of traditional EMS courses often saturated with polished presentations and scripted learning experiences, this course emerges as a beacon of reality, a raw and unfiltered view into the heart of knowledge from an experienced first responder on the front lines of the homeless crisis.
